Lincoln Beer Festival Needs You!
Planning is well underway for this years Lincoln Beer Festival. It’s shaping up to be another great event, but as usual we can not run it without your help!
Jobs include; getting people admitted into the festival, dispensing glasses to thirsty attendees, serving on one of our three bars, assisting the volunteering team, selling products at our CAMRA shop & signing up new members to the campaign on our membership stand. No experience? Don’t worry! Our core team of volunteers are happy to show you the ropes.

Volunteers needed on the following days on the following areas, these are the times of the day we need people, you do not have to do a full 12 hours, any time you can offer in any of the following areas is much appreciated, be it 3/4 hours or more!
Festival Set up;
Friday 17th May 09:30-10:30;
4 volunteers for Scaffolding unloading, must be physically fit. Protective footwear needed. Breakfast roll and soft drink provided afterwards.
Monday 20th 07:00-17:00;
6 volunteers for set up, some heavy lifting jobs, some lighter jobs. (Lunch provided)
PM Time TBC;
1 volunteer to go with our Transport manager to pick up Bars and Glasses from Gainsborough and Chesterfield. (Food subsidy provided)
Tuesday 21st May 07:30-17:00
4 volunteers for set up, a mixture of jobs some heavy lifting jobs (not as much as Monday), some lighter jobs. (Lunch provided)
Wednesday 22nd May 09:00-17:00
1-3 volunteers to make sure we are all set for a smooth opening on Thursday Morning (Lunch provided)

There are many ways to do this Big & small!
The easiest way is to start beer scoring on whatpub.com , each time you visit a pub you can rate the quality of the real ale you’ve drank. You may even want to let us know what beer it was & how much it cost you. This information helps us in the Good Beer Guide selection process. Even just keeping is up-to date on events happening in your local
Want to meet the branch regulars? Why not come along to a branch meeting? Have an input on what the branch gets up-to throughout the year & keep up-to date with happenings of the Lincoln pub scene. Dates & locations on our calendar & also in What’s Brewing. Worry a meeting is too formal? Fear not the formalities are dealt with early on in the meeting & after that becomes a bit more relaxed while we run through the pub & brewery news. Also we run regular socials, either walking crawls, public transport trips, or even minibus jaunts!
We are often looking for new contributors for our branch magazine, ImpAle. Be it an informative article, a travel piece, a recipe or even a quiz/puzzle! Writing not your thing? We always welcome help in delivering the ImpAles once they reach us from the printers.
Lincoln Beer Festival 2016! Planning is well under way for Our annual beer festival in May. Why not join us at the meetings or more importantly volunteer some time during the week to help run our increasingly popular event. We welcome newcomers with open arms, provide informal training & volunteering looks great on a CV! Keep an eye out for the staffing form when it appears in the Beer Festival section on the site.
However you’d like to get involved we would love for you to join us for a Happy New Year in 2016!

Update!
Our branch entries for potential entry into the Good Beer Guide (GBG) 2016 have now been chosen!
Thanks to those members that put forward nominations & to those that attended the meeting to take part in the voting. A special thanks goes to those who volunteered to carry out the surveys!
The entrants will be announced on the official publication date in September!
Dog and Bone progress to the final 16
Lincolnshire CAMRA’s Pub of the Year, our very own Dog and Bone, John Street, Lincoln, has done it again! Blowing the competition out of the water, taking the crown of East Midlands Pub of the Year for 2014!
The other pubs in contention were:
• Derbyshire: Furnace Inn, Derby
• Leicestershire (inc. Rutland & Northamptonshire): Free Trade Inn, Sileby.
• Nottinghamshire: Horse & Jockey, Stapleford
Landlords Chris and Sarah Sorrell are over the moon after progressing to the last 16 in the competition.
Sarah says of their customers “We could not be happier and want to thank you all so much for supporting the Dog and Bone, the community and friendly atmosphere you create make it a special place. Just so overwhelmed!”
They will go up against:

- Yorkshire Region: The Kelham Island Tavern Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
- Surrey & Sussex Region: Surrey Oak, Parkgate, Newdigate.
- Wales Region: The Pilot, Mumbles, Swansea.
- West Midlands Region: The Beacon Hotel, Sedgley, Dudley.
- Wessex Region: The Lamplighter, St Helier.
- South West Ham: The Salutation Inn, Berkley, Gloucestershire
Editor of The Good Beer Guide 2015, Roger Protz, said of the final 16,
“Being named as one the top 16 pubs in the UK is a huge honour that each of these pubs should be hugely proud of. These pubs have won their branch’s Pub of the Year, then gone on to win the regional competition, and now have a chance of being crowned National Pub of the Year – making every one of them a winner in their own right.”
The National Pub of the Year for 2014 (chosen from the above finalists) will be announced in February 2015.
