From humble beginnings, Lincoln Beer Festival has grown to be a fixture in the city’s social calendar. The Lincoln Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) held their first beer festival in 1977 in the upstairs room of the Stag’s Head pub on Newport. In the early days, the aim was to support the few remaining independent breweries as they battled to survive in the face of competition from the national brands. However, these days the event celebrates the revival of British brewing and the diversity of the beers produced by craft brewers across the country.
Over the three days, around 2,000 customers are expected to sample the drinks and enjoy the great atmosphere. Visitors are attracted to the event from across the country.
For those who are regular drinkers of real ale, cider and perry, a wide range of drinks is provided, many of which would not normally be found in this part of the country. Ales from many local breweries are also showcased. And for those who are not yet devotees, the huge variety of styles and flavours to be discovered in our traditional British drinks is demonstrated.

Following a very successful event in 2025, the 44th Lincoln Beer Festival will again be held in SouthSide. Formerly St Katherine’s Church, SouthSide is located by the junction of High Street, South Park and Newark Road. The atmospheric building is owned by Acoustic Nations Live CIC, a not-for-profit organisation which produces music, events, films and videos. It also promotes numerous live events and community activities. SouthSide aims to showcase the heritage of its site, as well as celebrate all that is good about living in the south of the city.
Each year, customers are encouraged to donate to the Festival charity. This year, the charity is the Bomber County Gateway Trust. The Festival logo is an image of the life-size sculpture of an Avro Lancaster which the Trust has sited alongside the A46 at Norton Disney.
Lincoln Beer Festival will take place at SouthSide on Thursday 21st, Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd May 2026. Admission is £6 but, as with all CAMRA festivals, members are admitted free. Attendees pay £4 for their commemorative festival glass – this is refunded if they decide not to keep the glass.
